Manifesting Chicness

The word Chic means elegant, stylish, fashionable, tasteful, understated, and sophisticated. These are a few words that define that word, which is originally French and has been established in the American language, since the 1870's .Over the years, "Chic" has been applied to, among other things, social events, situations, individuals and styles of dresses.(sources, dictionary and Wikipedia).

On Wednesday, my dear friend came over for breakfast after her Pilates class. While I was in the kitchen, pouring a cup of coffee, she stood up by the built-in shelf in between the kitchen and the dinning room. A book, Lessons From Madame Chic, from the author Jennifer L. Scott, caught her attention. I had to step out of the apartment to get avocados from the corner of my block. When I came back 5 minutes later, she was still glancing at the book and immediately she said to me "This is your bible, right?" I asked her, "What do you mean?" "You follow this book to the tee," she replied." I bought it 5 years ago and I haven't read it since," which kind of surprises me , because I absolutely love Jennifer L. Scott's books. I also own the 2 book from her Madame Chic series, At Home With Madame Chic." Well, I love everything Chic, or anything that has to do with Chic" I stated. My friend remarked " When I see this book, I think of you." "Thank you. You are so sweet," I said with a smile on my face and with a nice warm feeling, since that is my kind of vibe.

We are what we think of and what we surround ourselves with. My mother was a very Chic lady. Her love for classical music, opera, and timeless classic clothing stayed with me and I guess that is where my love for chicness comes from.

One of the Lessons from the book I started to apply after I read it is the 10 Item wardrobe. I stick to a few timeless, classic pieces and I don't mind repeating the items I wear. I felt liberated after I purged my closet.

I imagine a world of chicness and sophistication, and that is what I manifest.

Chicness is a way to design a life worth living!
