AN UNEXPECTED WAY TO SLOW DOWN THE AGING PROCESS

The natural aging process occurs either at a faster or slower pace, depending on the environment, Lifestyle and even the state of mind each individual lives on or practices.

It is widely known to the vast majority of the world's population that taking care of ones body via exercising, eating healthy, sleeping soundly for at least 7 hours, and going outside when the sun is shinning for a good dose of vitamin D; are excellent ways to not only slow down the aging process, but also to stay healthy and strong for as long as possible.

Mindfulness is one of the practices that have been recently researched as a way of keeping the body healthier and younger. No wonder why meditation has become one of, if not the most, sought after practices, besides healthy and trendy diets like: Ketogenic, Paleo, whole 30, and plant based diets; which can not only help reduce weight, but can also help the body's cells to renew, consequently taking years off from people's appearance.

In an interview with Tom Bilyeu, host of the show Impact Theory in YouTube, bestseller author, Naomi Whittel, writer of the book Glow 15, said that mindfulness or managing the state of mind is the most powerful weapon to fight not only illnesses, but is an Anti-ager.

Eckhart Tolle the author of the bestselling book, The Power of Now, wrote in such book "If your habitual state changes from being out of your body and trapped in your mind, to being in your body and present in the now, your physical body will be lighter ,clearer and more alive. As there is more consciousness in the body, it's molecular structure actually becomes less dense. When presence becomes your normal mode of consciousness and past and present no longer dominate your attention, you do not accumulate time anymore in your psyche and in the cells of the body. The accumulation of time as the psychological burden of past and future greatly impairs the cells' capacity of self-renewal. So if you inhabit your inner body, the outer body will grow old at a much slower rate, and even when it does, your timeless essence will shine through the outer form, and you will not give the appearance of an old person."

Practices like meditation, breathing deeply, feeling your body and being mindful of your thoughts by leaving the past in the past, by not worrying about the future, and just living and feeling the present moment even if we are not meditating, are wonderful and enlightening ways to achieve consciousness. This will not only help with a blissful and relaxing mood, but to keep the wrinkles at bay for a longer period of time.

If trying to live a less stressful life by taking more deep breaths while being present, is an unexpected way of slowing down the aging process, I am all for it! It is a free and constant resource we all have to start living the present moment and design the lives we really want. A life worth living!
